SEAN AGARD C.S.W., M.S.W., R.S.W

Sean Agard is a Registered Social Worker (OCSWSSW) + psychotherapist with 15 years of professional experience. He has a proven track record of clinical knowledge + therapeutic rapport that leads to successful outcomes for his clients.

Sean attended Medix College where he obtained his Community Service Worker diploma and York University, where he earned both his B.S.W and M.S.W. He has gained over a 15 years worth of valuable experience navigating the social service system, and working with diverse populations in the community.
As a Guyanese-Canadian, raised in a Guyanese home, Sean grew up enjoying great food, fantastic music and amazing stories. He was also provided with a diversity of perspectives; leading to his understanding that each person's lived experience is unique to them and the formation of their identity. This has resulted in a client focused approach to therapy, which creates a therapeutic partnership, and promotes the client’s agency through collaboration.  Sean has fulfilled a diverse number of needs by customizing his approach to best support each individual on a personal level, while creating a safe space that encourages clients to be their genuine selves without fear of judgement or negative consequences.
Through his extensive experience working with groups, families, couples, and older adults, Sean is well aware of the necessity for culturally appropriate therapy to combat the effects of racism and other prejudices within our social and medical systems, denying specific people the crucial support they need.  Sean is devoted to social equity and respect through advocacy for those whose voices are ignored, and active participation in such Anti-Oppressive events such as Black Lives Matter marches, or the Strawberry Ceremony for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.
Sean knows that the seeking professional support can be a difficult decision to make, but believes that once made, is one of the most important decisions one can make in promoting the change that they desire. Sean will be pleased to support anyone with the strength and courage to make those life changes.
